PRELEAP 2009 Rembau

PRELEAP 2009 Rembau

The Primary English Language Enhancement and Activities Project (PRELEAP) is an in-service schools-based teacher development programme to raise standards of English teaching and learning in clusters of primary schools through the schools’ full-time teachers of English and school leaders. PRELEAP involves all the 29 primary schools in the Rembau district of Negeri Sembilan, 63 teachers of English (who teach about 8,000 students) in a 6 month programme enhancing the teaching and learning of English both inside and outside the classroom through enjoyable and motivating activities. PRELEAP training takes place outside school teaching hours so does not disrupt classes. The PRELEAP training team visit the teacher participants in their schools and join classes taught by the teachers during the school day. PRELEAP measures improvements in standards and use of English among students and of English teaching and English language proficiency among teachers and school leaders. The project creates better opportunities for Malaysians in education and employment through enhancing their communication skills in English.

PRELEAP 2009 is fully supported by the Negeri Sembilan Education Department and is funded by the Yayasan Negeri Sembilan.

The project employs, supports and manages a team including experienced and highly motivating international English speakers as teacher developers and consultants. The key trainer is English Language Teacher Consultant (ELTC), Mario Dubielzig, an international English teacher trainer and manager with experience in the UK, Greece, France, Italy, China, Vietnam and Malaysia. He is supported by an English Language Project Coordinator and an English Language Project Administrator.
